Personally, I feel safaris are the ideal way of exploring the Indian land. In fact, safaris have added excitement and fun in the journey. You name a safari and we have it Camel Safari in Rajasthan, Jeep Safari in Jim Corbett National Park, Yak Safari in Ladakh, and what not !.. There are number of ways to cover the jim corbett national park. The corbett national Park endorses jeep safari, horse safari, bird safari, elephant safari, fishing safari and the nature walk.

You can explore the flora and fauna in jim corbett park with the jeep safari and elephant safari, that unfolded the beauty of the corbett national park in india. Wildlife safari of this park is a delight for adventure lovers and wildlife photographers.

Corbett national park housed several species of deer, sloth bear, wild boar, fresh water dolphin, leopard, the marsh mugger and gharial crocodiles, over 450 species of birds and the elusive, nocturnal royal bengal tiger. Oh! yes, another way that you can cover jim corbett national park is nature's walk. The safari are guided by an expert, who knew each part of the Jungle.

JEEP SAFARI

Jim corbett national park and rajaji national park in uttarakhand and gir national park in Gujarat are known for jeep safari. You will get a whole new jungle experience in these sanctuaries while moving about in a 4x4 WD jeep.

Elephant Safari

An elephant safari into the grasslands and jungles searching for tiger or a herd of wild elephants is the highlight of any visit to Jim Corbett national park. The best way to see wildlife is on elephant back. An elephant safari allows travel deeper into the wilderness and to get very close to wildlife without scaring the animals away. Commonly observed wildlife includes the spotted deer, wild boars, sambar, barking deer, rhesus macaques, langur monkeys, peacocks and herds of wild elephants. Jim corbett park is a paradise for birdwatcher's, containing over 580 different species of birds.

The primary purpose of the Corbett tiger reserve is to save the animals and plants of the Ramganga river valley, particularly the tiger and the fish eating gharial crocodile. The 2006 census of Corbett tiger reserve indicates that there are close to 174 tigers at Corbett tiger reserve, a spectacular increase since 1976, when 44 tiger were estimated to live inside the reserve. Both the muggar (Indian marsh crocodile, also known as mugger) and gharial, a species of fish-eating crocodile, are present in the park. It is estimated that 16 muggar and 4 gharials were present in the park during 1974. Numbers are increasing with the release of 250 young gharial reared in captivity between 1982 and 1994, and now that the muggar population breeds in the Ramganga reservoir. A 1997 census counted 283 gharials and 301 muggars at Corbett.

The elephant back safari tour is a great combination of elephant and jeep safari to observe wildlife, the main attraction being riding the Pachyderm for a whole week. The elephant safari in corbett tiger reserve starts from the Durgadevi gate of the corbett park and continuous along the northern boundary ending at halduparao on the northwestern boundary of the corbett tiger reserve. Besides traveling on the elephant back, the tour plan includes various activities including jeep safaris into the corbett national park and bird watching hikes, village visits, visits to various tribes in the area, learning to ride the elephant, elephant baths to name a few.

Motorbike Safari

The other way one can explore the natural beauty is on motor bikes. We also arrange motor bike safaris in kumaon hills in Uttarakhand. However, it is not that at one place only jeep and elephant safari is available. For example horse safari, elephant safari, and bi-cycles are also available to Jim corbett national park for the safaris. There are different safaris available, but it is the famous safaris of the place that the tourists hire to explore the place.

DAY JEEP SAFARI

Jeep safari can be organised in the morning hours, evening hours and in the night. Early morning game drive to the bijraani, jhirnaa, sitavani or dhikala range to observe the wildlife of the area. Breakfast at the forest rest house. Post breakfast a hike along the bijrani nature trail. Back to corbett wilds for lunch. Evening jeep safari in the adjoining forest. Back to corbett wilds by evening. Campfire and dinner. Overnight at the corbett wilds.

TIGER SAFARI

India is truly a land of contrasts, which never fails to surprise and fascinate the visitor. The tiger lovers will find plenty to search for and study and will realize that more than a few trips are necessary to do justice to the indigenous tiger watching. Corbett tiger reserve is perhaps one of the very few national parks in india, where one can stay in the heart of the tiger reserve. Tiger trail tour of one such combination of stay at corbett wilds-a jungle resort and forest rest house with jeep and elephant safaris. However these trips can be customized as per ones needs.

FISHING SAFARIS

The ramganga river and kosi rivers are the main lifeline of the corbett tiger reserve and supports a wide array of aquatic life forms within. Common otters (lutralutra monticola), mugger (crocodylus palustris), the fish eating gharial (gavialis gangeticus) and fishing eagles are just a few, who benefit from this perennial source. Famed for the 'mighty mahseer' the fighting fish, it is one of the finest rivers of north india for anglers. The largest mahseer (barbustor) catch in the last few years weighed 65lbs. Other species on this river include the goonch, malee (wallago attu), rohu and trout in certain sections.
Using corbett wilds jungle resort as a base one can opt for multi day fishing trips on various stretches of the ramganga and kosi river in india. These trips are escorted by our corbett wilds fishing guides - some of the finest in the area, and involve overnight camping by the river on it upper stretch.

BIRDING SAFARI

Corbett is famous for the richness and diversity of its wildlife which included over 50 species of mammals and over 580 species of birds. The national park is an important refuge for the tiger, Indian elephant, wild dog, leopard cat, Indian pangolin and hog deer. All of which were once common throughout the terai of Uttar Pradesh but are now rarely seen outside the park. The terai (moist land) is a belt of marshy jungle and grassland stretching between the foothills of the Himalayas and the Indian plains, a large part of the terai is in Nepal. Corbett's avifauna is particularly interesting because of the overlap between the plains and high altitudes. The Ramganga river is a source of attraction to many winter migrant birds. A number of high altitude birds also visit the national park during winter. With altitudes at Corbett ranging from 400 meters to 1,200 meters above sea level, there is a rich variety of habitats. Nearly 73% of the park is covered by dense moist deciduous forest with a predominance of sal trees, accompanied by haldu, pipal, rohini and mango trees. While 10% of the core area is composed of grasslands in the valleys, which offer visitors a better view of Corbett's wildlife.

HIKING SAFARIS:

Corbett tiger reserve has large tracts of adjoining river & forest area that extend to the higher reaches of the outer himalayas. Altitude varies from 400 mts to 2100mts. Grasslands and tropical forest dominated by the sal (shorea robusta) trees go up to the higher mountains of oak and rhododendron with a breath taking view of the icy himalayan peaks. Hikes and trekking in these forests with a help of an expert tracker is perhaps the best way to 'feel the forest'. One indeed gets an insight and minute observations are possible. Camping in our forest or by a riverside far from habitation is an unforgettable experience.

NIGHT JEEP SAFARI

After early Dinner game drive from Camp to Mohan forest and back up to Bijrani Gate to observe the wildlife of the area before reaching camp, Overnight at the Camp.
